Colloquy on Marine and Coastal Ecological Corridors

Client: Secretariat of the Council of Europe

NatureBureau acted as rapporteur for a specialist meeting on the development of marine and coastal ecological corridors. The two main objectives were to introduce concerns regarding the conservation of marine and coastal biodiversity and the preservation or restoration of marine and coastal ecological corridors, and to identify specific activities which could usefully be implemented within the framework of the Council’s Committee of Experts, with a view to the constitution or conservation of ecological networks in marine and coastal habitats.

NatureBureau facilitated the development of:
a draft programme of specific scientific and policy activities in the field of marine and coastal biodiversity
a summary of discussions during the colloquy, including key issues, constraints, role of existing policies and instruments, and conclusions
the ‘Llandudno Declaration’, and
presented the results of the colloquy to the Committee of Experts for the development of the Pan-European Ecological Network.
